What is a Guest Ranch
By Jim Custer
A guest ranch is a wonderful magical like place where families and friends meet, parents and children are reunited, a place where you can do things together, things you want to do at home but never can find the time.
A dude or guest ranch will rekindle your spirit, you will unwind in a way you never thought possible, here you can disconnect, be without live T.V., be without your cell phone, imagine you are just getting back to nature, you are watching the milky way on a dark evening, you are standing in the river hoping for a good bite, you are riding your horse at 10,000 feet through the mountains, and your kids are having the time of their life.
Guest ranches are not for everyone. People looking for a typical 4 or 5 star resort may find fault within a ranch vacation. Guest ranches are providing a life experience through activities and wholesome fun; not just a pretty room and a place to eat. Here every person and every employee will treat you like friends and family. There is a shared exclusivity with your horse and with your guides. You will be surrounded by mountains and creeks; you will just want to take it all in.
Guest ranches have a rustic ambiance; some are eloquent, some are very rustic, and some are historic. They do not have the fanciest or most expensive furniture. Most have log or log sided cabins with fireplaces. Their lodges are from a by-gone era; a sort of Teddy Roosevelt or Adirondack feel with a wonderful warm ambience, a roaring fire, pine trees, mountains, lakes and ponds, ducks, geese, eagles, deer, and elk. These are your closest neighbors. Some are very remote with others in ski or lake recreational areas.
Some have pools, spas, tennis, water sports, bikes, and other resort features. But the main thing they all have is a feeling of caring, great activities, a sense of well being, and close family ties. A large ranch will have about 100 guests at the most and 50 guests or less at the least. Guest ranches provide the best family vacation you could ever take. Just ask any kids that have been to a ranch. They are the best for testimonials on ranch vacations.
By the way, don't look for a Ritz Carlton or a Four Seasons, these ranches are not resort hotels or cruise ships. Guest ranches offer something you can not get any where else, a resting place for your soul. Is this the meaning of life?
Sincerely,
Jim Custer
